Shannon Lynch has been involved with music in the area for years. She was a strong member of the music department at Catskill High School where she sang with the Trebleaires women's group, maintained leads in the musicals, and played in the Wind Ensemble. She attended SUNY Oneonta for Music Business and was a member of their Chamber Singers and Concert Choir where she was a featured soprano soloist.
Shannon was then afforded an opportunity to join the locally-based band Conehead Buddha. She subsequently traveled up and down the east coast with the band playing 200 shows a year. She played tenor saxophone, flute and sang back-up vocals. She has graced the stage with such bands as moe., Antigone Rising, Maceo Parker (James Brown's saxophonist), and recorded on albums with famous musicians such as Tony Levin (of Peter Gabriel's band). She is well-regarded and highly respected by musicians throughout the area.
After about 8 years, Shannon decided it was time to continue her education. She attended The College of St. Rose and pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education and received a Master's Degree in Music Education with an emphasis in pedagogy from the Hartt School of Music. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from both institutions.
Shannon currently works at the middle school in the Guilderland School District where she has been teaching vocal and choral music for five years. Her choirs have received gold ratings at the area NYSSMA competition festivals. She also maintains a private vocal studio of 10 students.
Shannon has not given up her band travels and currently plays in the band Lynch with her brother Terry, also a member of Conehead Buddha. The band plays many prestigious music festivals from the east coast to Chicago, as well as music halls, clubs, and colleges. She is sought after for professional faith-based events and other classical performances. She also enjoys spending time with her new baby girl!
Shannon is delighted to be performing in her hometown and is honored to be asked to perform by the Treble Choraliers!
